Summer school
Since 2013, 140 students and 30 nationalities attended the plas@par summer schools!
From the laboratory to the distant universe, the World of Plasmas
Each year (except 2020 due to COVID-19), teachers and researchers of PLAS@PAR welcome around twenty students as part of the summer school entitled “From the laboratory to the distant universe, the World of Plasmas”. A unique opportunity for participants to access a broad panorama of research on plasmas. Thanks to its success, especially internationally, this school created on the initiative of Labex PLAS@PAR is today perpetuated by the Federation.
It generally takes place for one week in August in Roscoff (Brittany) or Banyuls (Languedoc-Roussillon) and targets students with a Bachelor, starting a Master's degree, but can also be appreciated by Master's students wishing to broaden their horizon or doctoral students wishing to develop or change their research theme.
The school, free and taught in English, introduces students to plasma physics. The training covers various aspects of plasmas: astrophysics and natural plasmas, laboratory plasmas generated by lasers, electrical devices, ion beams, cold plasmas for industrial applications, etc.
Students with a good background in physics or applied mathematics are selected by PLAS@PAR according to a ranking established according to academic merit and motivation.
We thank the University of Pisa (Italy) as well as the Physics Department (UFR de Physique) of Sorbonne Université for their financial support in the organization of this school!
